AAAndy Murray intends to resume playing singles before the end of this year, but has conceded that he is unlikely to do so until after the US Open in late August. The three-times grand-slam champion is practising at the Queen’s Club in preparation for his comeback in the doubles draw at next week’s Fever-Tree Championships. He will partner Feliciano López, the 37-year-old Spaniard, as he makes a significant stepping stone in his recovery from hip surgery four and a half months ago.

Any appearances by Andy Murray, 32, during the grass-court season, including Wimbledon, will only be in doubles. All going well, he hopes to play singles practice sets from next month, and then potentially competitive matches from September. Possible options for his full return, playing sigles matchs, could be at the end of running year or if not possible, at the begining of next one.
